For this exhibition, I created a body of work titled ‘Ex Altiora’, meaning “From Higher Things.”

This collection explored themes of femininity, autonomy, and resilience, responding to the experience of existing within a patriarchal society that often seeks to shrink and silence women. Through a visual narrative, ‘Ex Altiora’ follows a female figure buried beneath the weight of external expectations, gradually reclaiming her space, healing, and stepping fully into her power. The culmination of the series is a large-scale acrylic and silver-gilded painting composed of four separate panels joined together, symbolising transformation and wholeness.

The work was exhibited alongside an A2 newspaper-style publication featuring images of each piece, curated to tell the character’s story. Displayed on a plinth in front of the final four-panel painting, this setup invited viewers to engage with both the artwork and its underlying narrative.

‘Ex Altiora’ became more than just a project; it marked the beginning of my current creative path. It was during this process that I truly discovered what I wanted my art to express, and how it could become a tool for healing and self-understanding.

Below, you’ll find images of the final painting, selected pages from the accompanying publication, and photos documenting the exhibition and creative process.
